A Star Is Born Review

Updated: Aug 25, 2019

A Star Is Born (2018 Remake) has to be one of the greatest all-around films released so far this year (that I've had the pleasure of watching) and has left an everlasting impression on me. It's just one of those films that you can't stop thinking about after watching it and it feels like a genuine experience, not just a movie. The acting was absolutely phenomenal and the performances delivered by the entire cast from Lady Gaga to Anthony Ramos (especially from Bradley Cooper) were extremely realistic and memorizing. My favourite thing about this film had to be the amazing supporting cast, especially the great and unexpected performances by Sam Elliot and Dave Chappelle. Not only was Bradley Cooper delivering top-notch acting but his incredible directorial debut is pretty much guaranteed to give him an Oscar nod this year. Bradley Cooper truly puts his heart and soul into this film and it shows from every angle. This may be the first legitimate Oscar contender of the year and it definitely deserves to at least be in the conversation. The writing was absolutely fantastic, the soundtrack was filled with heart-wrenching emotion that allowed the audience to easily connect with both the characters and the film on an emotional and personal level, the chemistry between the cast was incredible which made the film extremely realistic, opening an atmosphere that allowed viewers to indulge and attach themselves into the film and story without ever losing interest. This film does so much right while doing so little wrong, I'd say the biggest issue with the film was the that it could be overwhelming at times due to the number of issues the film attempts to deal with at once but the flaw is small since it only really happens a few times and majority of the film is focused, is easy to follow and understand. Towards the end of the film, a couple of huge plot points that added a lot of depth to the film started to feel very rushed as if the editors and writers were running out of time. The visuals can be sharp but for the most are just really mediocre but the other important technical qualities such as sound mixing which is fantastic and most of the editing is great. Once again the music is fantastic and the audio of the songs adds a lot of raw emotional depth to an already amazing film. I can safely say that Bradley Cooper's A Star Is Born is an absolutely amazing, realistic and emotional experience and film that I strongly urge you to watch and support, the film has all the potential to not only win some Oscars this year but to also be a modern classic that will be brought up in countless future movie discussions. I also just want to say that Bradley Cooper gave a flawless and breathtaking performance that easily lands on my top 10 list of the decade so far.

My Final Rating: 9.5/10

You guys should definitely go and watch this film if you haven't already and give me your own thoughts on this fantastic movie! +
