Between Two Ferns is a bad movie. Mainly because it isn't really much of a movie. Nothing really interesting happens, it's kind of funny at times but most of the comedy misses, the plot is just stupid, the writing sucks and the movie is super predictable and just boring. I can see how the concept could be somewhat appealing but the execution of all the ideas introduced was just poor and lazy. In terms of acting, characters, dialogue and story this film is just messy or generic.
I really don't think there's anything special about this movie which sucks but the celeb cameos are incredibly well-picked but none really pan out and just feel pointless. The sad thing is that the blooper real is the most comical aspect of this film. The outtakes are the only genuine moments and the actual movie just feels fake and poorly executed. Surprisingly there were a few really good camera shots that just felt wasted on such an unmemorable movie.
The pacing is very fast and it's not a good thing at all because the film brushes over every important moment, theme-wise it's just lousy and forgettable, the only thing that was good about the film was the tone. I don't wanna go super in-depth into this review because I've already put more effort into this than anyone did into the poorly written screenplay. If you have nothing new to watch and are ok with watching a brainless, slightly funny and quite boring film then I guess Between Two Ferns is the film for you.
