This Movie Is Both Haunting And Disturbing. Share Movie Review!

Share was a movie that didn't get a lot of buzz but I've been excited for because I love A24 and HBO so I thought this was a very interesting collaboration. I think the big problem with this movie is that it definitely deals with some disturbing content but the concept of the movie isn't very fresh and I also don't think they did a great job handling it or balancing the focus on everything that was important.

Still, with that being said, I believe that Share was a pretty good movie. The standout of the film was an incredible performance delivered by the main actress Rhianne Barreto! She was truly incredible and she really carried this movie not because everything else was bad because this is really a story that leans on the main character so I found her performance very genuine, impressive and captivating. I also enjoyed everyone else in this cast, though Rhianne obviously carries the film the side characters were great when given the opportunity to prove themselves on screen.

One thing I really liked about the movie was that nothing was sugarcoated, they gave you everything no matter how visually or emotionally disturbing straightforward and honestly. This is definitely a film that can be triggering and the material dealt with is very sensitive and hard to watch but I'm very happy with how it was handled for the most part, not necessarily from a story perspective but the entire film felt real and genuine so it never really felt like they were trying to take advantage of the topics and themes. In terms of pacing and tone I think this movie was great, the movie is very psychological and more slow-paced but I think it works perfectly for this film and I think the tone fits perfectly for what this movie is about and the themes it deals with.

I really liked the style of this film, like I said the pacing works really well and it's also a really well shot and styled thriller. The movie does a great job at managing suspense at times and the film can be both haunting, disturbing and horrifying from a visual and mental perspective. From a technical aspect, I thought this movie was well made at times but at some points, the audio quality and sound quality were both quite poor and things like that can definitely take you out of a film like this. The score was fine nothing really special or impactful, the use of colour in this movie was incredible and one of my favourite parts of the entire film, the cinematography was solid and it was a just well-crafted film for the most part.

At the end of the day, Share is a good film that deals with disturbing imagery and visuals, as well as some important yet horrifying real-life issues so this is definitely a movie that can be really hard to watch. With a decent screenplay, Share is really held together by the incredible lead performance and unique thriller Esque directorial style that keeps you locked in your seat from start to finish. This is a movie that has something to say and wants to tell as a story and isn't willing to sugar coat a second of it and can definitely be visually and mentally disturbing. They tell you what they want to tell you in a very straight forward way. I really did enjoy this movie but it definitely has it's problems and some of those issues can take you out of the movie completely so I'd suggest watching this movie if you are a fan of this kind of hyper-realistic and disturbing thriller films.
