Plot- Gil arrives with his fiancee and her family in Paris for a vacation, even as he tries to finish his debut novel. He is beguiled by the city, which takes him to a time past, away from his fiancee.
Midnight In Paris is a great and raw film about living in the past, appreciating culture and finding true happiness. The film brings you on a journey throughout the past, rich in both culture and despair but doesn't refrain from dealing with modern and relevant issues in the character's life. Though at times it feels like the main character is lost in his fantasy of the past, time and time again you can feel that character get pulled back to reality or at least for the first half of the film.

The camera work in this movie is great, I mean the film is beautifully shot! The setting is gorgeous and fits the film perfectly. The beautiful scenery has that romantic essence to it that really sets you into the story and film. Just from a technical aspect, this movie was really impressive like the production design and costume design was phenomenal. The cinematography and colouring were also great, this movie was just incredibly beautiful to just sit there and look at. It was clear from the opening montage of beautiful scenery that this was going to be a visually stunning film and that it was.

I think the most surprising part of this film was how strong Owen Wilson's performance was. He was outstanding in this film and he managed to propel what was already a great character into one of the most memorable characters in cinema from the year of this film's release. Not only did Owen Wilson deliver a captivating performance but the rest of the cast was pretty fantastic as well, though I view this film overall as a character story about finding yourself I have to admit that the supporting cast was outstanding. The acting in this film was great and very believable.

What really sold me about this movie was the story! I just loved the ideas this film was full of. Like this charming, successful and intelligent guy that is looked down on by everyone close to him that feels stuck in this one place and wants to change it but doesn't really have the courage to go for what he really wants in life so he goes through this spiritual, fantasy-like Journey to the past to discover himself and eventually make that change in his life. To me, the story is inspiring in some ways, genuine and just beautiful. It's something anyone can understand and really relate to which is what makes it so easy to connect with and be invested in.

At the end of the day, Midnight In Paris is a beautiful, real and honest film that will stay with you after watching it. The film is beautifully crafted from a visual and technical aspect but also through a story and writing perspective. The film feels personal yet open and it creates for a wonderful experience. It's like a love letter to all your inspirations while telling a story of a man that needs to find himself within those inspirations. The only reason I won't give it a higher rating it because there were a few bumps in the road at the beginning of the film but once you're into it you completely forget about them and this film rises to the next level. This movie stand for so much and is about so much that it's hard for me to not dive into everything I wanna talk about with this film but that would take me hours so, for now, I'm gonna leave this review by saying I would recommend this film to everyone and this was easily one of the best movies I've seen this decade.
