Is Monsters Inc As Good As People Say It Is? Monster Inc Movie Review!

I remembered watching this film when I was a kid and loving it simply because I thought Mike Wazowski was funny. Was I wrong? No, Mike Wazowski is truly hilarious but re-watching this film in a more mature mindset I was able to realize how incredible this film really is. This movie locks you in immediately just by the unique universe the story takes place in and it's hard not to be charmed by the friendship between Mike and Sully right off the bat but this film is so much more meaningful than just any typical buddy comedy film. From the moment we get to see how the people in the monsters inc universe reacts to physical contact with humans we are shown an underlying story about our society and how we treat things different from us. Essentially this film deals with so many different and mature topics that there is so much to draw audiences in with and the film does a great job at managing itself so the viewers don't ever feel overwhelmed. Honestly, this film may have the most interesting social commentary in any animated film I've ever seen and it's up to par with many political live-action films. The idea of fearing the unknown mixed with the idea of your worst nightmare coming to life is a genuinely intriguing story and I loved every minute of it. Every character in this film seems to fill a purpose and the film is very well organized and well-edited. I also love that they stick to their rules. If they set something in stone they don't betray or abandon it for the sake of making conflict resolution simpler. The voice acting in this film is incredible and you can really feel the relationships, bonds and chemistry between all the characters in every scene which just got me more invested in the film. The ending of this movie is fantastic and I love how they twisted the idea of scaring children into making them happy instead plus when Sully and Mike rebuilt the closet door to boos room I couldn't stop myself from shedding a few heartfelt tears for such a beautiful scene. We were even given a great villain in Randal who was such a great character because he was so dynamic like he could have been the underdog protagonist of the story if it was told in a different perspective and that's why I love this movie. I wish I could go into everything I loved about this film but that would mean I'd literally have to dissect every single scene because I loved this movie that much. The film really works as many different things but it manages to stay coherent, organized and something that any viewer of any age can watch and truly appreciate the greatness of this beautiful piece of animated cinema! Also, the scene between Boo and Sully in the bathroom may be the most incredible scene in any animated film ever. The moment sully realizes boo wasn't a threat and that bond was instantly built hit me so hard I had to pause the movie for about five minutes just to calm my emotions down after that phenomenal scene. This film truly does an incredible job of displaying emotions in every scene and in every character. A true masterpiece.

Final Rating- 9.7/10
