I Love Every Single Thing About This Movie! Last Black Man In San Francisco Movie Review!

Writer: Harland BanksHarland Banks

Last Black Man In San Francisco is weird, unique and yet beautiful in every sense of the word! I seriously just loved absolutely everything about this movie. One thing I really liked was the likeable and unique main characters that had a realistic, genuine and at times incredible friendship that translated on screen perfectly. The friendship between the two main characters was something for me to connect to easily and because of this, I ended up feeling emotionally invested in these characters in the best way possible.

These interesting and unique characters had me not only curious but drawn to the screen for every second. The incredible characters alone make me want to watch this film again asap. The writing for this film is also incredible! The dialogue is great, realistic, flows well at times and feels awkward at other moments because in real life not everything is comfortable and you can feel the uncomfortable moments these characters go through at times thanks to the incredible writing and phenomenal acting. This movie is to me one of the best pieces of cinema this decade. Not only is this film incredibly well written and well crafted but it is also easily one of the best shot films I've ever seen.

Every single aspect of the picture quality, the cinematography, the lighting, the camera work, the atmosphere, the colouring and ect is fucking flawless. I took a ton of screenshots of this gorgeous film and I can't help but go back and look through some of the incredible shots, hell I felt a serious level of happiness and curiosity watching this movie and just revisiting some of the shots brings back that feeling and some of the emotions I felt throughout this movie. I also loved the pacing and toning of this movie. I thought they both worked incredibly well and it made it much easier to watch this movie. I also love how this movie can be both complex and simple at the same time, it isn't super confusing and it's easy to follow yet the film is filled with complex and important ideas that they express with symbolism and visuals.

This was a seriously fun movie to watch and at times could even be funny. The movie feels pure yet delves into serious issues that people face in today's society. The movie definitely leaves an impression on you and some of the scenes are constantly playing in my head, hell sometimes I feel like I'm on the verge of tears while just thinking about some of the beautiful and heartbreaking events that take place in Last Black Man In San Francisco. I also loved the score, the film uses music perfectly to create more emotional scenes, hell I've been listening to the film's rendition of San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hear) as well as Blue by Joni Mitchell over and over again since I watched the film.

Those songs and scenes left such a huge impact on me that whenever I hear those songs I'll think about this film! The cast was fantastic, especially the lead roles Jimmie Fails and Jonathon Majors who deliver incredible, memorable and monumental performances. The supporting cast is also incredible and adds a lot of depth to this beautiful film! I love all the themes in this film from the coming of age story, how it's important for people to find a passion in there lives and how hard it is to move on from that passion as well as the idea of doing everything you can to not become cemented in your city and allow it to take you over to the more obvious storylines about gentrification .

After this movie, I think I can day the duo of Jimmie Fails and Joe Talbot is incredible and genius. They easily created what is not only my favourite films this year but my favourite screenplays this year. At the end of the day, The Last Black Man In San Francisco is a beautiful, unique, original, emotional, pure and genuine film that is nearly perfect at every aspect and angle. The Last Black Man In San Francisco has a ton of charm and heart! It does a fantastic job of telling this fascinating and incredible story without overwhelming or rushing the film. Everything about this film is truly genius from the screenplay, the filmmaking, the acting and just everything about The Last Black Man In San Francisco is incredible! I think I can safely say this movie will go down as one of my all-time favourites! I'd recommend any lover of cinema, story and character to watch this movie asap!
