Good Boys is a film that surprisingly genuinely shocked me. I went into the film thinking it was probably going to be a bad rip off of superbad based off of the trailers and though the two films definitely have a lot of similarities Good Boys managed to stand out as its own film from the start to the finish. At times Good Boys feels like an over-exaggerated version of life for many young kids.
Even with the wildly unrealistic storyline Good Boys is filled with many down to earth, genuine and realistic scenes that shows a great representation of what many kids around the world are going through right now, wether it's puberty or dealing with divorce, a large portion of this movie feels genuine and is actually quite emotional. This movie was also very entertaining and funny. I went to see this film with like eight of my friends and most of us were laughing throughout the majority of the movie and of course, a lot of that does have to do with charm the cast brought to this film but some of the scenarios and jokes were just genuinely funny.
The movie can be very predictable and it has a lot of problems but the movie has so much heart you kind find yourself connecting to the film and characters almost immediately and because of that, you don't really notice many of the flaws while you are actually watching the movie. I also loved the cast and I think pretty much everyone gave some pretty strong performances in this film. I also loved that the dialogue made no sense at times and was heavily over the top because that is very realistic to how children speak when no authority is around to tell them otherwise. Like I said despite the film being over the top a lot of this movie was really realistic.

I think they did a fantastic job at making each character unique but having connections with each other that actually made sense and were great representations of real life. Also, the frat house scene may have been one of my favourite scenes in any film all year! At the end of the day, Good Boys is a genuinely funny film with a lot of heart.

Though at times it can go a little too over the top the movie does a great job at showcasing how life can be for many young kids and some of the issues they do deal with. I loved the storyline of friends growing up and growing apart as well as I loved the storyline about these kids trying to find themselves and accept themselves for who they really are. I recommend you go see this movie with a group of friends I believe you will most likely leave the theatre appreciating and genuinely enjoying this film for what it is.
